Getting Started with Virtual Cards
A virtual card has unique numbers that let you buy things using credit or debit card networks, just like a physical card.
You can use virtual cards to shop online, in stores using a digital wallet, or even over the phone.
Just like physical cards, virtual cards have an expiration date, the name of the card network (like Visa or Mastercard), a unique code called Card Verification Value (CVV), and your name.
If you haven't connected your business bank account to fund your Zena cards yet, please make sure to complete this step so you can start using your cards.
Creating a Virtual Card
To create a virtual card within Zena, you can do this one of two ways:
Create a Client Virtual Project Card
- Log in to your Zena account and navigate to the Projects on the left navigation bar.
- Select All Projects.
- On the right-hand page, select the Create New Project + button.
- The card will be created automatically after you’ve selected to create your project.
If you're not the admin of your Zena account, you might be prompted for the project to be approved by your admin as soon as the project is created.
Create a Card for Business Expenses
- Log in to your Zena account and navigate to Cards on the left navigation bar.
- On the right-hand page, select the Create New Card + button.
- Fill in the details to create a virtual expense card.
Tip: You can create as many projects as you'd like, which don't have to be tied directly to clients and can just be used to track other business purchases, such as subscriptions like QuickBooks.
Using a Virtual Card
When you use a virtual credit card number, it processes like a physical card to the store or website you're shopping with.
As you create projects within Zena, a virtual card will be created and tied to that project. Once you have a virtual card number, you can use it immediately. Zena will automatically track all transactions made with that card for your client project.
