Getting started with Zena involves a straightforward application process. This guide outlines the necessary steps and information and explains the purpose of each requirement.

We adhere to the strictest financial regulations, and creating a Zena account requires information similar to what is needed to open a business credit card or checking account.

Zena is only available for United States applicants.

Applying for the Zena will not impact your personal credit score in any way and we will not do a credit pull during this time.

Zena Card Application

Providing your business information is essential to verify your status as an interior design business. You'll need to enter details such as your EIN, personal information to confirm your position as owner or company representative, and information about any additional business owners.

The Zena Card application process only takes five minutes to complete. You’ll be asked to enter information about your business to verify your identity and to make sure we validate your business.

About Your Business

First, select what type of legacy entity your company falls under.

Here are some ways to determine the type of business entity you have:
Check tax returns: Review your tax returns and other financial documents. The IRS typically classifies businesses under various forms such as C-Corporation, S-Corporation, LLC, or sole proprietorship.
Check your EIN: If you have an Employer Identification Number (EIN), check the type of entity registered with the IRS, as it will often indicate your business structure.

Next, tell us more about your business including your EIN or employer identification number. If you're not an LLC please enter your SSN here instead.

Unable to find your EIN? Unfortunately, looking up your EIN on IRS.gov isn't an option, as there's no EIN lookup tool. Still, that doesn't mean you're entirely out of luck. You can find it on the official IRS notice you received when it was issued, on your tax filings, or call the IRS directly.

In the following screens we'll ask you to enter your business address and phone number. Please make sure this matches any other issuing business documents.

Industry, Worker Count, and Annual Revenue

After you've verified your basic business information, we'll ask a few more questions to better understand your business.

It's important to accurately report your annual business revenue when applying for a business credit card. Annual business revenue is the total of all income brought in by your business before taxes or expenses are taken out of it.

Verify Your Information

You will also need to verify the details of business owners and representatives. This information is essential to meet regulatory obligations and confirm your identity as part of our Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for account creation. As part of the identity verification process, we may ask for photo identification and your Social Security Number.

In the last step, we'll also ask you to verify that you are the owner of the business or if you have a partner. If someone else owns the business with you, you'll also be asked to enter their information as well.

Review Your Information & Accept Terms of Service

Once you’ve completed these sections, your application will be ready for review!

Application Status

Once your application is complete, you'll be met with an application status of either:

  • Approved: Once your account has been fully approved, you can start using it immediately. The next steps involve connecting your bank account as directed in the application flow. From here, you can start personalizing your account, order your physical card, create client projects, and begin adding team members.
  • Pending: Your application is under review and may require additional information or documentation from you. Once our evaluation is complete, it will change to approved or denied.
  • Denied: If your application fails to meet our criteria, it will be rejected. However, we understand you might have questions or need clarification on this decision. Our Zena Member Support Team is on hand to provide insights into the reasons behind the denial and discuss potential next steps.

We use Stripe, a highly secure payment platform that employs advanced encryption techniques and adheres to PCI-DSS* Level 1 compliance standards. Please note that you will not be charged for a Zena subscription until your application is approved.

*PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of security rules created by major credit card companies to protect customers' payment information and ensure that businesses handle credit card data securely. This sensitive information is collected to better serve your business, comply with regulatory requirements, and verify the authorized representative. We ask for personal details to confirm your identity and prevent fraud, ensuring the security of both your business and our financial partners.
