Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Zena Card a credit card?

Zena offers a business charge card, which is distinct from a typical business credit card. Unlike credit cards, which allow you to opt to pay just the minimum amount and accrue interest on the remaining balance, charge cards mandate the full payment of the statement balance, ensuring you never incur interest charges.

What is a charge card?

Zena offers interior designers a unique charge card featuring no annual fee or credit checks. This card is directly linked to your business checking account, enabling *spending up to the available balance in your account. What that means is that when you connect your business bank account to Zena, whatever your balance is for the day is what you’re available to spend on your Zena Card that day. Your credit limit adjusts based on project income, eliminating fixed limits that might hinder growth. The Zena Card, similar to other credit cards, operates on the interchange fee principle. What sets us apart is offering a no-interest, no-late-fee charge card. As your interior design business grows, so does Zena!

Why am I being asked to include my SSN if this isn't a credit card?

Although we don't conduct personal credit inquiries, we do require a Social Security Number (SSN) to confirm the identity of individuals associated with the business applying for the Zena Card, helping to safeguard against identity theft. Our process involves a standard Visa business application, requiring both an Employer Identification Number (EIN) and SSN as part of our security protocols.

What are the requirements for signing up for a Zena Account?

You must have an active business license (EIN) and operate within the Interior Design industry:

  • Privately Held Corporation
  • Publicly Traded Corporation
  • Limited Liability Company (LLC)
  • Non-profit
  • Partnership

*If you operate as an Individual or Sole Proprietor, schedule a call with our team!

What is a virtual card?

A virtual card is a set of digitally generated credentials such as card number, expiration, and security code, and it works the same way as a physical card. Virtual cards can be used by entering the card credentials at checkout online or by adding and using the virtual card through a payment wallet (ex., Apple Pay or Google Wallet).

Is the Zena Card accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted?

Yes, the Zena Card is accepted everywhere where Visa is accepted – both online and in person.

How does Zena handle fraud?

Your security is a top priority at Zena. Should you lose your Zena Card or notice unauthorized transactions, please first report the card as lost or stolen through your Zena account to stop any further usage. Then, notify Zena Member Support at support@getzena.com for immediate assistance.

Our product has been built using best-in-class information security practices (such as end-to-end encryption and two-factor authentication/2FA), and we use Visa’s transactional fraud model to identify and block unauthorized use of your card. However, it's important to acknowledge that no fraud prevention system is infallible. In the event that your card becomes compromised, rest assured, you won’t be held liable for any third-party fraud—transactions made without your or your authorized users' consent—provided you report any suspect activity within 60 days.

How does Zena’s Card and expense management work together?

Zena has developed an innovative 'smart' card system designed to enable you and your team to instantly categorize transactions in real-time, eliminating the delay of weeks or months typically associated with transaction categorization.

  • Your projects: For each project you create, a unique virtual card is created; expenses made with this card are automatically allocated to the corresponding project. Additionally, whether you use your physical Zena Card online or in person, you'll promptly receive an SMS/email prompting you to tag the expense to a project.
  • Your business spend: Zena accommodates all types of business spending, including office supplies, non-client travel, and software subscriptions. You can streamline the tracking of these expenses by creating numerous virtual business cards within Zena, each labeled for specific categories like 'software' or 'office expenses.' Use the designated cards for their respective categories to organize and monitor your spending effortlessly.

How and when do I pay my Zena balance?

The Zena card is a charge card with automatic balance payment each day. Your daily expenditures are tallied, and the total amount is automatically withdrawn from your linked bank account the next morning. A full record of your payments and statements is always accessible in your Zena account. You may also make a payment towards your balance at any time to free up your spending limit.

Can my whole team use Zena?

Zena is designed to bring your team together, making financial management a seamless and collaborative effort. Additionally, you’ll have the flexibility to tailor permissions for each team member. This approach allows team members to concentrate on their specific projects and expenses while sensitive business financial information remains private and secure.
